Parks are for Everyone
Grade level: K-2nd (10am-12n)       and        Grade level: 3-6th (1-3p)
Day and Time: Friday 7/21 & Friday 8/4
Instructor: Kayla Altland
Location: The Catskill Community Center

Through exploring art & videos of our great Natl. Parks, youth will become experts in our park service and how they are such a part of our American Heritage. There will be fun games and craft making to showcase the Parks. Interactive correspondence with various parks will make the experience even richer. Younger group will “color” a park ranger and older youth will actually design their own landscape for a Natl. Park!

 

 

Pioneer Living

Grade level: 2nd to 5th

WEEK OF JULY 3-7 (no July 4th) Time: 2-3:30pm

Instructor: Cornell Cooperative Extension

Location: Eliott Park

Youth will learn all about the lives of the early pioneers and the hard work it took to survive on the frontier.  Engaging activities include making products which they now normally buy at the store.  They will play authentic pioneer games and try crafts which kept pioneer children entertained before televisions and video games.  Experience how fun life in old times used to be!

 

 

A is for Agriculture

Grade level: 2nd to 5th

WEEK OF JULY 10-13 (four days) Time: 2-2:30pm

Location: Eliott Park

Exploring agriculture through the world of literature and arts plus hands-on activities such as butter making, apple tasting, and even creating their very own hand crafted beads! At this intriguing and engaging program, children will be able to connect the dots between animals and plants and the products they help us create.  There will be no “blind consumerism” for these kids!
